I want to introduce my latest book. 'The challenge of Racism in Therapeutic Practice.
The book covers themes and experiences that challenge therapist's engagement with the theme of racism. I have included chapters on the denial and the mythology of post racism, the impact of Shadism, taboo and slavery and colonialism. I have also presented some ideas about gender influences, internalised oppression and black rage. To support exploration of these contexts I have utilized some concepts that were introduced in my previous book. The concept of recognition trauma, a black empathic approach, black Western archetypes and ancestral baggage are some of these. The book presents some interviews and case material that exemplify how the challenge of racism can be explored within the context of therapist, client and supervisor support.
The task of writing the book has been very challenging I am relieved that it is now completed and I can wind down. I do hope that you will read it and make use of it.
