The main challenge for therapists is addressing the powerful feelings that racism evokes and being able to accept that these are normal feelings about an abnormal situation, and that we can work through it and become empowered.
CPD event
This experiental day will be offered to a small group of sixteen people. The question of appropriate supervision that supports the needs of practicing, trainee and aspiring Black, Asian and BIPOC supervisiors and supervisees will be central.
Exercises and dicussion will focus on ways to move on from assimilation processes of institutional racism that can create voicelessness. Support needs in this area will be considered.
While training courses may have not sufficiently served these needs, supervisors may want to break this chain of silence between themselves, and others and build their approach. The day will unveil the hidden nuances of racism in systems of therapeutic practice and provide a space for senior therapists to consider developing style and confidence that moves their practice forward.
Venue: Online via Zoom
Date: Saturday 13th March 2021
Time: 09:30-12:30 – 13:30-16:00
Who should attend the workshop?
Practicing supervisors, senior therapists in supervision training and aspiring supervisors of Black, African, and Asian heritage, BIPOC, who want to nurture confidence and clarity about their supervisory and support needs
Fee: Organisations £130, Individuals £100, BAATN Members £85
